Wound V.A.C.

The wound vac has arrived.

Tomorrow, we'll make the trek to see the surgeon at noon, and then, when we get home, the nurse will come and "install" the wound vac.

I am still not sure exactly how it works, but I do hope it works. There will be some relief from twice daily dressing changes. Perhaps it will help to reduce His pain and improve His general sense of well-being. I sure hope so.

Here's the link to the video I found about what this beast is supposed to do:

It still won't be as fast as you want, but it will be much, much faster than without it. I've worked (in the past when I did a lot of wound care) with probably 150 patients on Wound VACs. They can be amazing, especially when nothing else has worked. Getting it this early on is just wonderful. Your wounds look ideal. I'm so excited for you all!

And usually there is much decreased pain with dressing changes which are only every three days!

Good luck.

i was glad to read LynLass's comment cause after watching the video i am sitting here with my nose all wrinkled up thinking ... 'it sounded bloody awful'.. and ... 'THAT thing will work'??

i will keep my fingers crossed that this machine will help with the healing and make Raheretic's recovery quicker and easier..

I couldn't get the link to work but, like morningstar, I'm encouraged by LynLass' comment.
