Latest Milstone

I awakened this morning to perform my daily nude, fasting weigh in and what to my wondering eyes should appear but a the numbers "231" staring back at me on our digital scale. My baseline weight was 301. I have reached a total loss of 70 pounds this morning which is precisely 10 weeks from the morning of our surgery Monday, March 23.

One more milestone behind us in our progress.

Today too, t was down 53 pounds, another pound gone as her weight loss has slowed, making each pound she loses a precious achievement for her.

I think swan is still down 12 pounds. (I didn't actually ask her her weight status this morning. Inquiring of our family member who didn't have weight loss surgery frequently seems inappropriate. We will be very pleased when t or I, either one of us, gets down to swan's BMI.)

That means the three of us are down a total of 135 pounds between us:)

Anyway I have breached the 70 pound weight loss mark for the first time:)

All the best,

Tom

Well done, all of you!

Ten weeks? It seems much longer than that.

Gosh. When you put it that way- 70lbs in just 10 weeks- it sounds so.... drastic? Unhealthy?

Scary.

But. Wow. You look awesome. You sound great. And those meds being knocked off? Holy moly. Amazing.

It's really been a pleasure to follow along. :-)

Hermione, Sharon, and sin thank you for sharing in celebrating this point on our journey.

kaya, this is way faster than I've had major weight loss before. To frame it accurately, while it was 10 weeks when I wrote this from our March 23 surgeries, we were on liquid protein diets for two weeks prior to the surgery during which time I lost 18 pounds. So in actuality I'd lost a total of 70 pounds over 12 weeks and 52 since the surgery. But still, even with 12 weeks asd the term, it is rapid weight loss. (They do call the year after this surgery the "rapid weight loss period." It appears to live up to its billing.) At our next follow up appointment July 31 they will be reviewing blood test results that will be measuring various aspects of nutritional health to make sure we are getting necessary vitamins, amino acids, etc.....essentially making sure we are not malnourished through all this.

The reality is that the trade off with all this is that I/we can't eat much at all without becoming sick. We are working hard at counting proteins and taking vitamin & mineral supplements to assure our health in the mean time.

Thank you too for checking in on us and your good wishes.

All the best,

Tom
